The Institute of Public Affairs welfare “research” released yesterday either wilfully misrepresents or completely misunderstands data related to income support payments and the National Disability Insurance Scheme. It is designed to confect outrage in the lead-up to the 14 May federal budget and manufacture consent for Labor’s plans to undermine the NDIS.

A performative political response will not fool people in poverty

Advice and policies that affect those on the lowest incomes must be led by us, but we are again excluded. The minister cannot expect to be taken seriously with this proposal.
