Submission to the Committee inquiry social services amendment “Technical changes No. 2” Bill.

This is the Antipoverty Centre Submission to the Senate Community Affairs Legislation Committee inquiry into the Social Services and Other Legislation Amendment (Technical Changes No. 2) Bill 2025. The Bill sought to give Services Australia more debt recovery power despite the harm they have already caused welfare recipients over the last 5-10 years due to their debt recovery activities especially when it came to their own income apportionment system. The Antipoverty centre’s recommendations centred around trying to gain more protections for welfare recipients. You can read the full submission below or read our media release Here.
