Letter to Workforce Australia on managing COVID risk for welfare recipients | July 2022
Our concerns regarding the transition to Workforce Australia, late changes to the rollout and issues that must be addressed for it to uphold the government’s stated aim of delivering a flexible and supportive employment services system.
The circumstances and rationale we outlined to the employment minister have not improved. In addition to a large number of stories in the media, we have received a substantial number of worrying reports directly about problems with the rollout, provider behaviour and the
operation of the Points Based Activation System, and again urge that the government implement
a full “mutual” obligations penalty suspension for a minimum 90 days to allow time for issues to be
addressed.
